Students writing and using AlphaSmart NEOThe students in Mrs. Gold’s grade 2 SEI class at MacArthur School used Alphasmart Neos in their classroom to write thank-you letters to Peter Reynolds (from Fablevision) who visited their school on Monday.  Alphasmart Neos are available in every elementary school in Waltham.  The Alphasmart Neos run on AA batteries and make for a very easy-to-use technology in the classroom to support writing.

A question regarding the statement “available in every elementary school”…are Neos in the classroom at as part of a teacher’s lesson or in the library or even available on demand on these indoor recess days?

On a similar topic I enjoyed reading the April 2010 Fast Company article “A Is for App: How Smartphones, Handheld Computers Sparked an Educational Revolution”. It has me thinging on when is the right age/what is the right apps to give to my young kids.
